Luxury Vinyl Plank Installation in Chicago

Waterproof LVP for kitchens, basements and rental units. Glue-down, floating click-lock or rigid core, over wood subfloor or concrete slab.

Home › Luxury vinyl plank

The right LVP install depends on what is underneath.

Luxury vinyl plank is genuinely waterproof, which is why it belongs in kitchens, basements and rental turnovers where hardwood does not. But it is thin and unforgiving about flatness — every ridge and dip in the subfloor telegraphs straight through to the surface and shows up in raking light.

So the prep matters more than the product. We flatten with self-levelling compound where a slab needs it, and we are straight with you about whether a floor needs that work before we quote it rather than after.

If you have already bought your material, that is fine — plenty of our customers do. We will lay what you purchased.

What the job includes

  • Subfloor flatness check
  • Self-levelling compound where required
  • Glue-down, click-lock or rigid core
  • Removal of existing flooring
  • Installation over concrete slab or wood subfloor
  • Transitions and thresholds
  • Trim and shoe moulding
  • We can install material you have already purchased

Glue-down, click-lock or rigid core.

Glue-down is the most stable and the quietest underfoot, and it is what we generally recommend over concrete and in commercial spaces with heavy rolling loads. It is also the hardest to pull up later.

Floating click-lock installs fastest and can go over many existing hard surfaces, which makes it the usual pick for rental turnovers on a clock.

Rigid core, sometimes sold as SPC, is the most dimensionally stable in rooms that swing in temperature — sunrooms, three-season porches, garden units. It hides minor subfloor imperfection better than thinner floating planks do.

Common questions.

Call (224) 536-0627 for anything not covered here.

Is luxury vinyl plank really waterproof?

The plank itself is. Water can still reach the subfloor through seams and edges in a standing flood, so it is highly water resistant in practice rather than a sealed surface.

Can LVP go over concrete?

Yes, and it is one of the better choices for a slab. The slab needs to be flat and reasonably dry. We check flatness and use self-levelling compound where it is needed.

Do I need to remove my old flooring first?

Not always. LVP can often go over existing tile or vinyl if the surface is flat, sound and does not raise the floor too high at doorways. We assess it at the measure.

Can you install material I bought myself?

Yes. Many of our customers buy their own material. We will lay it, and we will tell you before we start if there is a problem with what was purchased.

★★★★★

I had water damage and some serious squeaky floors. Instead of trying to patch things up for a quick buck, they told me straight up that a proper fix meant full replacement, not a band-aid repair. They gave me a fair, competitive quote and did a full installation throughout — done professionally, no more squeaks.
